Sermon

God’s Glory Fills the Temple

Sermon Notes (Click to Expand)

1 Kings 8:1-21; Acts 3:1-10

1 Kings 8:11(NIV): And the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled his temple.

It took Solomon 7 years to build the Temple in Jerusalem. It was an exciting day for the people of Israel when they gathered together for the official opening. The Temple was a place for:

· Prayer - 1 Kings 8:54-56, Isaiah 56:7, Acts 3:1

· Praise - 1 Kings 8:15-16, Psalm 150, Acts 3:8

· Teaching - 1 Kings 8:20-21, Isaiah 2:3, Acts 3:6-7

· God’s Glory - 1 Kings 8:10-11, Acts 3:9-10

These corporate acts of worship can only occur when God’s people gather together.

During this time of separation, let’s continue to find ways to connect, to share God’s glory together.

Hebrews 10:24-25(NIV): And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another —and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

2 Chronicles 5:13-14(NIV): The trumpeters and musicians joined in unison to give praise and thanks to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, the singers raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang: “He is good; his love endures forever.” Then the temple of the Lord was filled with the cloud, and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the temple of God.
