God Humbles Nebuchadnezzar
Daniel 4:1-37; Mark 8:34-38
Daniel 4:30 (NIV2011): He said, “Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?”
Nebuchadnezzar was a man who knew about God but also experienced success. Pride brought him down. From this passage, we learn that Nebuchadnezzar was:
· Blessed - Daniel 4:10-12, Deuteronomy 8:10-14
· Became proud - Daniel 4:29-30, James 4:13-16
· Was humbled - Daniel 4:31-32, James 4:10
As followers of Jesus, He takes centre stage in our lives.
How are you denying yourself?
Daniel 4:37 (NIV2011): Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.
Mark 8:34: Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.
