Saul Disobeys God
1 Samuel 15:1-23; Mark 7:5-8
1 Samuel 15:10-11(NIV): Then the word of the Lord came to Samuel: “I regret that I have made Saul king, because he has turned away from me and has not carried out my instructions.” Samuel was angry, and he cried out to the Lord all that night.
Saul turned away from God and decided his way was better than Gods – a common human flaw.
Saul’s disobedience was evident in his:
- Religion - 1 Samuel 15:20-21, Mark 7:6-7
- Rebellion - 1 Samuel 15:22-23, Isaiah 53:6
- Pride - 1 Samuel 15:12-14, Luke 14:11
If we recognise our disobedience and humble ourselves, exalting Jesus, we will be forgiven.
1 John 1:8-9(NIV): If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
