God Uses Gideon to Deliver Israel

Judges 6:1-16; 1 Corinthians 1:26-31

Judges 6:15-16 (NIV):“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.” The LORD answered, "I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites together."

God had more faith in Gideon than Gideon had in himself. God chooses the unlikely. Gideon had to learn that:

1. God Sees our Potential - Judges 6:12-13

· God looks forward - v12, 1 Corinthians 1:26

· We look back - v13

2. God Chooses the Weak - Judges 6:14-16

· So he is glorified - v14, 1 Corinthians 1:27-29

· So we rely on him - v15-16

3. God’s Power Changes Everything

· We have God’s peace - v22-24

· We have God’s confidence - Judges 7:15-18, 1 Corinthians 1:30-31

1 Corinthians 1:26-27(NIV): Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
