Mark 14:36 (NIV2011): “Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”

At Calvary Jesus won a public battle with Satan and conquered sin and death. But first he had to face a private battle at Gethsemane. Jesus’ prayer shows us how to:
• Deal with the flesh Mark 14:38, 1 Peter 5:8
• Connect our spirit to God Luke 22:42-44, Acts 1:8
• Win the battle Mark 14:41-42, Romans 8:37

Three times Jesus instructed his disciples to “watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.”
How important is your personal prayer life to you?

Mark 14:38 (MSG): "Stay alert, be in prayer, so you don't enter the danger zone without even knowing it. Don't be naive. Part of you is eager, ready for anything in God; but another part is as lazy as an old dog sleeping by the fire."

1 Peter 5:8 (MSG): "Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping."
